Where is the best place to get a picture of Mount Rainier? I would like to do a picture of my kids with the mountain in the background. Any suggestions?? Thank you.

There are a couple of problems here. One, floods recently caused all sorts of problems with the roads around Mount Rainier. Some roads were washed out and will be out of service for a while. So, check with the park before you start making the drive.

The other is the weather. The mountain is frequently clouded over. We were in the area for a week, and the mountain was visible for only a couple of days.

We drove in on the southern route to the park, and there are some very good views as you head up to the visitors center. As far as a picture goes, cross your fingers.

By the way, Mount St. Helens isn't far away and has some fabulous places for such photos. Be sure to explore a visit there.
