I had done that several years ago and have no regrets about it whatsoever. The world has changed today in the sense that more and more schools want professors who have practical experience in the field, rather than just having degrees.

Now it wasn't an easy decision because they're night and day from each other, but in my case, I woudn't want to go back into the corporate world unless I really had to.

And FYI, there are many of us who teach and do some business consulting on the side. And some of us teach part-time and work full or part-time in the business world. This way, we can keep our hands in both fields.
