Such as in World War II, or in general history? If you're talking about WWII, then if you've read a history book it was because not enough people high up in the US chain of command listened to the Chinese and US citizens who were living in China at the time. It was obvious that Japan was gearing up for war years before their actual attacks, but somehow this was overlooked. As for continuing to do well in the war, I don't think they did really. If you don't believe this, ask people from Hiroshima.

If on the other hand, you are talking about the progress made by the Japanese in general up to their place in world society today, then I will tell you that white people didn't really "allow" them to do that. If at some point "whites" in general had the opportunity to prevent all Japanese from "doing well," there would be no reason to do so. Why stop someone who doesn't have bad intentions from doing well? If you are asking this question from a racist standpoint and really mean "Why didn't whites (the superior race" stop those dirty Japs from takin our jobs and makin all them computers instead of killin em all when we had the chance?" then screw you.

Why wouldn't they? Nobody, Nation, Race or individual should ever be repressed or prevented from living up to their full potential.
