Im 37 weeks pregnant baby is measuring 42 and its all baby. Im 4cm dialated and fully effaced but baby will not drop because the contractions I have been having for 4 days havn't been strong enough to push the baby down into the birth canal. I've tried nipple stimulation and it will cause maybe 3 contractions in a row at a time is that all it is suppose to do? or am i doing it wrong.?

In "What to Expect When You're Expecting," it says you would have to stimulate your nipples for 3 hrs straight to get the full effect. But, they say not to do it without your doctor's recommendation, because it can cause you to have too strong contractions.

Walking will help induce labor. I was 3cm and 80% effaced at 36 weeks. Three days later, my water broke and my son arrived. I walked 1 hr each day after I found out that I was dialated (two days total).

I wish I could help you more. I've been desperately trying the same thing. It seems I get a few good ones (I have noticed walking helps) and then they go away. I don't know how long to do it for, plus mine always leak. I am trying a heating pad tonight though, I hear the heat helps....

if it's not working, than your body is probably not ready... but you could try an exercise ball, you just sit on it and roll your hips around. it will help the baby move down and rub your cervix.... Good Luck!

It's different for everybody but try walking even though its not pleasant this far along.
