Merry Christmas!
Well, I don't know where you live but where I live the scent of pines and fir trees is so spectacular during the Chrismas season, the food is delicious, and the decorations, the candles, the beautiful fruit, all the garlands and plants.... and it is very nice to hear from friends through the mail... Christmas cards are so pretty .... and it is nice to visit with people ...to dress up and take little presents to people, even if it is only a small box of sweets or some tangerines in a basket ...
I figure that God made the holiday for us ... but, shhhsh.... don't tell anyone! I think He means us to have fun..... just don't mention God or Jesus. Don't take anyone to court. It only causes more problems.. Let God handle that. Just go have fun and avoid all the traps and pitfalls that go with the day. If you just go about loving everyone anyway, no matter what they say to you, you will be carrying out the message of Christmas more than you know.

Because many religions have some form of 'the god is born' celebration around this time, most of the Christian traditions are not original, the giving of gifts, the turkey and the tree are all pagan traditions, along with many others. In a multi-faith family like mine, it's easier to do what the Romans did and celebrate both festivals (Winter Solstice and Christmas) on the same day. It means less arguments about when to open presents and have the big dinner, 22nd or 25th? we comprimise and this year we'll be doing the party over the weekend of 23rd, right in the middle of the two celebrations.

Christmas has changed from a simple Christian festival to a money machine for not only the big stores but Holiday companies, recording artists etc
Advertising Christmas gifts starts at the beginning of November, Children are children no matter what religion they are, and most people love presents.
There are a lot of people who are christened but do not go to church, that is why so many of them are sold and converted to houses. I was at Midnight Mass a couple of years ago and it was standing room only, unfortunately about a third of the congregation were tired and emotional after Christmas eve at the pub, and fainting all over the place even the priest commented on all the strange new faces.
There are a lot of people who never go to church except to put on a show at Christmas O.K they may believe in Jesus Christ but they are worse than any non- christian who celebrate the spirit of Christmas without the religion.
You say unbelievers say you are stupid for mentioning God or Jesus Christ well believing in God is having faith, but it is well documented about Jesus Christ so they are just showing how ignorant and stupid they are.

Christmas is not only just about giving but Christmas is and only is about Jesus Christ. If they say there is no God or dont believe at all....they are just doing it for the fun of giving/getting gifts. I dont know why some really dislike when they hear the word God/JESUS on christmas. After all if there was no God, and jesus was not born, there wouldnt be any christmas, or easter. May I also remind you, people started to give gifts on christmas b/c God started it. HE gave us a the most precious, priceless gifts on christmas day(JESUS CHRIST). Also if you think about this, it is also a time of the yr to be with loved ones, familly and friends. How many people wont see or get a chance to spend time with thier familly, if Jesus was not born or if it was unreal. All this wont happen if it wasnt for God. If God has not done all this....there wont be no gifts, no days off, no vacation, or visiting familly(once a yr). So i dont understand why people are so against the idea christmas being about God only.

Just being with family and being together during the holidays is reason enough to get excited whether you believe or don't believe. Many children believe in Santa Clause. I am sorry people called you names...this is wrong but to say that people do not have the right to get excited at christmas time is wrong. Christmas can mean many different things to all kinds of people. Your belief system is not the only one out there...There are many beliefs regarding Christmas. Isn't the main thing at christmas to just be with the ones you love and enjoy each other?
I really do not think you can take someone to court for calling you stupid...but again...I am sorry you have been called this because of what you believe. Those people who called you this are wrong. You are much better then that. But it also sounds like you need to open your heart and your mind to the reasons why people celebrate.

Its no longer that non believers are excited related to the thought of Christmas in terms of the Nativity and Christianity when you consider that doesn't even come into the equation. Its extra related to the holiday journeys, being with the kinfolk having a wreck off artwork and college, letting human beings know that they are thinking approximately them with the help of giving and receiving supplies etc. (Im a non believer) yet Christmas has been grew to become into the incorrect factor, it relatively is meant to symbolize Christ etc besides the shown fact that it is so advertisement these days and is all approximately supplies so i think of the question might desire to truly be; ... has the meaning of Christmas been lost interior each and all the economic jargon and are Christians following healthful permitting the genuine meaning of Christmas to slowly vanish?

Christmas is a universal holiday in Europe and the Americas. Most of the reason for this is because Christianity is the major religion on these continents. Some locals adopt. For instance, in places where Buddhism is common, a Christian can still believe in Christ Jesus but adopt to some of the concepts of Buddhism.

Well, Christmas is of pagan origin and so that is why modern day Pagan's celebrate on this date in addition to Non-Christians. Since Christmas was not instituted by Jesus himself, is the celebration really Christian just because it was adopted by a Church centuries after Christ? Really then if Christmas is of Pagan origin, then the unbelievers are essentially the Non Pagans who choose to participate.

Christmas hasn't BECOME a Pagan Holiday, it started as one and things have been added and left out by each new religion or culture that has liked the idea. The same goes for Easter while we are on the subject. It the spring festival for the pagens, or the festival of fertility for the new season, get it? eggs, bunny, all that nonsense...none of the most commonly assosiated symbols have anything to do with christ's crusifiction. i mean come on...chocolate eggs and and egg hunt with a giant bunny..am i the only one who sees this?

It is because Christmas has become a non-religious holiday to most people.
They enjoy the idea of gifts and celebrating with family and friends.. and basically the spirit of Christmas.
Everyone likes a party and likes getting gifts, so they want to be part of that.. they just don't want anything to do with the religious part.
