The best food is a slowly-sinking pellet food. This will keep your tank cleaner and will keep them from eating from the water's surface, which will allow them to swollow air. If they swallow too much air they can die. Feeding them a few peas once a week will help them release any air they may have swallowed. You should also feed them something different from time to time to be sure they are getting enough vitamins and nutrients. Try bloodworms, snails, zucchini, leafy greens (kale greens, romaine lettuce, collard greens, etc.). Also you can buy a bundle of Anacharis at your local Petsmart or Petco and plant it in your tank. Goldfish love this and you will be sure they are eating enough.

Tropical flake food by Tetra is the best for your goldfish. It contains protein, fiber, niacin, riboflavin, and a whole bunch of vitamins and minerals that's too much to type. Only trade off is that flake food clouds water! Only feed what they will eat in a few minutes. Like a minute or two. Pellets by Hikari are also an excellent choice because they don't cloud water and they float. They also contain all the essentials as flakes.

You can purchase goldfish flakes and pellets at any petstore or walmart. Those are fine as a stable, but you should feed a variety of foods including cheerios, peas, zucchini, water lettuce, snails, brine shrimp, nightcrawlers, duckweed, beef heart...
