First convert the minutes to hours. 5min x 1 hour/60 min =0.0833hr
then use the formula: x = r x t (distance = rate x time)
x = 50 mph x 0.0833h = 4.17mi

since the truck is traveling with constant velocity hence the distance can be calculated by simply multiplying speed by time. But the time 5min must first be changed into hours. so it becomes (5/60)hours.

4.16 miles

First you got 50 miles X 60 minute
50/60=0.833333
then you got 5 minutes

0.83333X 5 = 4.166666

speed=distance/time

or v=d/t

50 mph=x/ (1/12) (5 min=1/12 hr)

x=50/12

x=25/6 miles or 4.167 miles

d = rt, where d is distance.....r is rate or speed and t is the time in hours. d = 50*(1/12)
