Is it really worth the dealths of millions of animals, and the pain of so many, just for knowing something. (referring to animal experimentation etc)

Good question. There is a solution to this just around the corner. Perhaps you will be the one that will create it. Someone will, and they will be in our grandchildren's school books.

It is something like the current trend of looking for alternatives to fossil fuel. If it were not for fossil fuels, vehicles might not be as well developed as they are now. But at some point, we put harmful things behind us.

There are ways of obtaining knowledge about living systems without causing any damage to animals or humans. Keyword: nanotechnology.

Well, yes, i believe that it is. The deaths of those animals have saved the lives of millions of human beings. It isn't just about knowing something, it's about how you use the knowledge that is gained.

You have to weight the expected benefit against the cost, and remember that everyone has different ethics and beliefs. I would support stem cell research to come up with a cure for Parkinson's, but I would never support animal testing for cosmetics. That's just one person's viewpoint...

not very far, knowledge is infinite, the goals of attaining absolute knowledge are unreachable, knowledge is just a byproduct of the road to discovering life and defining a meaning to give to life

attained knowledge does not determine intelligence either, just felt like adding that

well, life is emotion like sorrow and pain and love and happiness, and everyone and everything dies. but apparently its the only thing that people have to live for. thats why we keep looking for something more. and we will keep going untill we cant go anymore. then, people who live for science and knoledge will go nuts. but i guess what im saying is we will keep going until the end of time.
