Troy is a senior, yes? Brady Quinn is a senior, Yes? So if they are both seniors, and both senior QB wouldn't you think the better of the two would win the Johnny Unitas Award, givin to the best Senior QB in the nation if i'm not mistaken...wouldn't you think that Mr. Troy Smith would have come away with it easy? Yeah, you would. The only problem is he didn't. Brady Quinn of the University of Notre Dame came away with that award.
Now with that said the Heisman is to go to most outstanding, most valuable, or best player in the nation. Now if Brady beat out Troy in that why wouldn't he beat him out in the Heisman. People have lost sight of what the Heisman is about. It's not about if your team is 12-0. There have been winners on teams with losing records. A lot of OSU's wins this season are not credited to Troy, or the offense. The defense helped them stay in a lot of games this year. Now yeah, the offense didn't do stellar against Mich or USC, but it was the defense that allowed both of them to score over 40 points. Brady is an amazing QB, not that Troy isn't, but Brady can take hits, can score big even when being hit, or rushed.
They are both amazing players, and the only reason Troy shouldn't get the Heisman is becaues of the booster stuff he has accepted in the past...trust me, Notre Dame doesn't do that, and Brady doesn't take gifts from the boosters.
Oh, and Mark F, who answered above me, are you serious? Next year Quinn will more than likely be a NFL player. He's a senior, not elgible for 5th year

That article is biased
in fact anyone who thinks brady Quinn deserves to be at the cerromony is biaseds
You take Brady Quinns most important, most anticipated games of this year no in fact take his whole college career
Brady seems to have never shown up in those games
That article is BS
Look at vince young last year he litterally carried his team on his shoulders and won almost every big game no matter how much they were loosing by. If Brady Quinn was so Good he would do the same.
Steve slaton should have been invited instead of Quinn

quinn is a good qb. he hasnt, and never will, win a big game. w/out troy smith the buckeyes wouldnt be what they are. hes not the qb of the #1 team. his team is #1 because hes the qb.
does accepting gifts make you less of a football player? better yet, does accepting gifts make you a better football player? the answer to both is no. the heisman is about what you do on the field.
this article declares quinn the winner purely on stats. if this is your argument, then i argue, based on stats, the heisman should go to HI's colt brennan. hes passed for more yards and tds than anyone this year. sounds like a dumb arguement doesnt it? maybe you should re-think yours.
go trojans!

thats a HEAVILY biased article. and the award isnt going to Troy Smith because he's the QB on the #1 team, he's getting it because he's shown leadership and poise. it doesnt go to whoever has had better stats. if it did, then Colt Brennan (QB for Hawaii) would get it because he has 53 TD passes and almost 5000 yards on the season.
Troy Smith deserves it (and i'm not saying it because i'm a Buckeye fan, even Charlie Weis said that he thinks Troy Smith will win it) because of his intangibles.
he didnt accept gifts from anyone. he accepted $500 from someone and was suspended 2 games. but that was last year. he's learned from his mistakes and he hasnt done ANYTHING bad off or on the field since then.
deal with the facts, Troy Smith will win the Heisman.

It has not something to do with racism. It the undeniable fact that Smith has the superb team interior the rustic. Quinn in undemanding terms threw 6 or 7 touchdowns interior the super video games against USC, Michigan, and Georgia Tech. you could not say Quinn does not have the expertise around him, he has Samardzija and McKnight besides as a stable line, not the superb, yet stable. His coach is likewise a extra suitable offensive minded coach. With the three hundred and sixty 5 days he had final three hundred and sixty 5 days, there is not any rationalization why Quinn could not have performed plenty extra suitable this three hundred and sixty 5 days, he basically could not get it performed interior the three video games that mattered the main, the two statistically and at a contest point.

accepting gifts...blah blah blah.. if you dont think that ol' brady boy hasn't rec'd some sort of freebie in his years at notre dame, you must suffer from nd myopia. yes troy got in trouble a few years back and sat out some games. to the satisfaction of the university and the ncaa. i would have no problem if brady rec'd the award, but due to the fact that he is not the best player in college football, he shouldn't get it. against every team with reasonable talent brady folded like a tent along with the rest of his crew. while ohio state led by mr smith (though, not playing elite comp every week) never folded. he hit some rough patches but stayed the way. heck if michigan state wasn't such a head case of a team nd would have lost that too. i just cant see brady getting the award after only beating service academies (some with weight and height restrictions), and michigan state. one

Quinn shouldnt win and here is why. look at his scheduale. he had to play against 3 teams this whole year that had a good defnese. the rest sucked. at look how bad he looked against Michigan. If you take Samargia (sp) out of the mix, Quinn is toast. cause no one else will jump 10' in the air and come down with his overthrown ball. Samargia should get the Heisman, for making Quinn look so good, when he isnt.

It's no contest, Smith's team is undefeated and Ohio St. beat two #2 ranked teams in one season. Quinn is good but Smith deserves it.

smith plays for the only notable undefeated team this year.. there is no way he won't get it.. I think Quinn is a good QB and I like ND, but he is only nominated because they have to have other nominations.. the race was over when OSU beat Michigan.

Admit it......The only reason you like Brady Quinn is because of his looks....The fact that he is even on the ballot for the Heisman is just BS..
