I'm with you. I was deeply offended when I was working at a university, it had been the practice of the Salvation Army Band to come and play outside at Christmas, but one year they were told that from then on, they would not be welcome because they might offend the Hindus and people of other religions. I love the Sally Army Band, and was offended I was denied hearing them play. I couldn't find any non-Christians who said they were offended; more seemed to be offended at the thought that they (the Hindus etc.) would be thought to be intolerant of others' beliefs.
Last year there was some case of a children's nativity play being cancelled lest it offend non-Christians, and in the paper recently a school had to be persuaded to put on a Christmas dinner alongside a 'faith' dinner, rather than have the 'faith' dinner instead.
Nigella Lawson is Jewish and she was banging on about her favourite Christmas recipes and family traditions last night on TV. I think people of other religions take what they like from it, and enjoy that, and ignore the rest.
I have yet to hear of any individual being offended by it, like you, and would be interested to see the responses you get.
On the other hand, some people ARE offended by those who suggest calling it Winter Festival, writing 'Happy Holidays' in cards, etc. Me for one. But the PC-brigade don't care if middle-England is offended.

I agree. This political correctness thing has gone too far. I read that this man put his son into a top notch preschool and they called their Christmas tree a "Holiday Tree". The man took his son out of that school immeadiatly because, "They took Christmas away from my son when it wasn't their's to take." I absolutely agree. I have heard of some places banning the colors red and green together. I think those kinds of people should just shut up. I don't know of any Christians that are trying to get the words Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, etc. banned from decorations, signs, etc. Now that by NO MEANS means that I only think Jewish people and African American people are against Christmas. That is stereotypical and anyone can be against Christmas, I was just using those holidays as examples. I think we need to just be friendly and tolerate each other. It doens't hurt to say "Merry Christmas," "Happy Hanukkah", "Happy Kwanza", or even just a "Hope you have a good time" if a person doesn't celebrate any of those holidays. I mean, come on.

I'm not offended by Christmas. I'm often offended at the ignorance of people that are claiming to be Christians that don't understand what evolution really is, the early history of the Christian church (early Christians were Jewish!), that don't know that hell is a place that is NOT real but is based on a place that WAS real, etc. Christmas? No problem. Ignorant boneheads trying to tell me I'll go to hell if I don't kiss the derriere's of their way of thinking? Get the gun...

i ask your self...are you a citizen of the united states? if so, then you truly might desire to thank God for the liberty you will possibly desire to particular your perspectives. it may't be disputed with the help of every physique with 0.5 a techniques that this united states is in life because of fact a team of human beings have been bored with being instructed a thank you to worship and desperate to possibility each thing to colonize "the hot worldwide." Frankly, i'm indignant at your offense! Christmas is a Christian holiday. holiday is a word that comes from putting mutually 2 different words - Holy + Day. Holiness is an characteristic, oftentimes credited to a diety. interior the case of the Christmas holiday, that's the God worshipped with the help of the lads and females people who got here right here to colonize this land, and the God worshipped with the help of the popular public of the founding fathers, and the popular public of the signers of the statement of Independence. The ACLU is a misnomer. They seek for no longer freedom of religion, yet freedom from faith. they decide for situational ethics. despite is stable for the guy on the time, is stable. despite the guy believes to be genuine is his or her reality and none dare dispute it. i ask your self...do you have a "holiday Tree" on your place? Will you exchange presents on Christmas morning? do you know why? the united states replaced into based as a Christian united states. a rapid perusal of our founding information will verify this. And, the Lord keen, we can stay a Christian united states. in contrast to many countries of the worldwide who might faster kill or detention center "enemies of the state," any who do no longer like it are unfastened to bypass away!

I really don't see why someone would be offended by Christmas, even though they don't believe. Christmas is a happy, joyful time, they should be fine with that. They don't need to believe in Christ if they don't want to, but Christmas should be enjoyed by everyone.

I am a TRUE CHRISTIAN. Not just someone who claims to be but doesn't follow any part of the Bible that doesn't suit them. I believe xmas is sacreligious. It is NOT Jesus birthday! He was born when it was still warm enough that the sheep were still in the fields. In fact, December 25th was actually Nimrod, the idol sun god's birthday. As different, so-called, god's became popular, their birthday began to be celebrated on this day. When Jesus became popular, His name was thrown in the pot with the rest of them. Imagine having your birthday to be celebrated on the day that was actually one of your worst enemies bday, and not even in the season that you were born in. If we were meant to celebrate His birth, we would have been told when it was. It is also Pagan, and the practices of it are condemned in the Bible. Jeremiah 10:3-4. They cut the tree down and decked it to worship it! The holly, mistletoe, and yule log are all from pagan practice (Idol worship). It is the Winter Soltice, (worship of the sun), a pagan ritual. #1 commandment, "No Other God's". It is Catholic, Bishop Llberius of Rome ordered the people to celebrate Dec 25 in 354AD, but it was not Jesus Birthday. It was already the winter soltice feast day, so "a convenient day" to celebrate Jesus. Santa Clause, St Nicholas, is of catholic origin. He was a catholic bishop who was honored in December by secret gift giving. People punish their children for lying, but then fill them full of the lies of this season. I have two children that were never told these lies of santa clause, and xmas. They weren't hurt by it. "Jesus Bday" but less is given in so-called churches "to Jesus" at this time of year then at any other. When your Bday comes around, wouldn't it hurt your feelings if everyone but YOU got a gift? Yes, Christmas is very offensive to anyone who has done their homework!

Actually, I don't know anyone who is either.
Those of us who are celebrating holidays with different names but similar themes tend to accept the others who are specifically celebrating Christmas.
I don't know anyone who ever got upset at being told a cheerful 'Merry Christmas!' We all know it is meant to be a greeting of good cheer.

How can politcal correctness enter into it? Sears and Target are what Christmas is all about.
Oh, sure, Jesus was born on that day, but I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday, absolutely nothing religious concerning Christmas was being sold.
Probably best just to forget about it like we have Thanksgiving. It has been skipped in favor of BestBuy.
