I have DSL and my mom has dial-up internet. If I want to buy her a webcam, will the difference in speeds cause a problem when we communicate? I know that with her dial-up connection the webcam quality will be poorer and it will be slower, but other than that does the differential cause any other issues?

Is exactly the same image quality. I made this test and is EXACTLY THE SAME QUALITY. The speed which your mother is seeing you is slow because her Internet connection. The quality can be improved in the Web cam/Preferences, so the speed. And there are no other issues...

I really have gentle DSL. Dial-up used to rigidity me loopy. I felt like I shouldn't also be on the song yet I did get there finally. i imagine you may really leave out DSL in case you went decrease back to 56k or decrease, most of the time.

The picture quality will be the same, but the slower connection may mean that you will see some "jerkiness" between the frames. But it will work to where you should both be able to enjoy seeing each other,

Your Mom will unfortunately only see a very very slow refresh of her screen.
I've just bought two cams as Xmas presents for my expecting sister and my Mum - I now need to pursuade my Mum to sign up to a broadband connection so that she and my sis can have real time chats.

You will see the pictures of Mom refresh only slowly. She will see you at the slow speed, also, and, once she tries it out on a bit larger 'pipe', she will beg, borrow, or steal a fatter 'pipe'!

Just do it. Worry about speed later.
