I heard somewhere around 12-14 yrs. Yikes!!! does this sound right?

I am talking about Designer name Models.

It depends on the country they are modeling in, and the Designer they are modeling for.
Many runway Models start at an early age (13) and can still do runway into thier 30's even 40's. If you are modeling swimwear, you would do best in your teens and 20's, maybe early 30's. However, older models look great in sportswear, gowns and couture type clothing. Again, it depends on the designer.
It is more important to be a small size and tall, than it is to be a certain age. Many women look good into thier 30's and 40's and can successfully walk the runway, if they stay a certain weight and keep youthful looking.
It's a crazy business! The clothes that the Models wear are usually ridiculously expensive. It is often the older woman that can afford to pay those prices, but even they like to see young, thin, fresh faced girls modeling the outfits. They do wear them well and being tall and thin does usually present itself better on a runway.
Look at the "E" Channel and check out some fashion shows to see the current look of models. There are many different types out there.
I modeled professionally for 15 years, and have also taught runway modeling for the last 10 years. My students all vary, but the most successful ones are the taller, thinner girls. The younger age does help if you want to have a long time in the industry.
Print modeling is much more versatile. And, you can be any heigth. The camera does add pounds though.

High fashion runway models usually are about 16-20. Unless they are a household name such as Kate Moss.

In America, size 2. In Britain, size 6.

i don't think so... i'm thinking older teen years or 20s. but if you DO count all the kids that model in, like, walmart or target magazines, then it is probably around 12-14.

any where between 17-25.They have models that young but their only magazine model
