Absolutely. The problem is that many people are already convinced that the world is going to end as a result of various superstitious or astronomical events. In actual reality, the world will last until the sun swallows it in a few billion years. Now if you're talking about humanity, then yes we can and will survive without ruining our planet. There is one way to do this, and one way only. Spend more time and effort on science. The main problem right now is global warming, which despite what some people will have you believe, is a real problem. It won't kill us all, but it will be a problem. All we really need to do to correct it is find a better source of power that doesn't run off of dead dinosaurs or clog up the atmosphere with greenhouse gasses. There is very little effort being spent on finding alternate energy sources, because the people who fund the research don't think it's a big deal. Unfortunately, they are wrong. There is no way to regress in our technology, so then we must move forward and use it figure out a way to save ourselves. We also need to start working together as a species instead of "racing" against each other to find the cure. I'm not worried though. I know we'll save ourselves and the human race will continue on for a very long time. We've come too far to let a slight temperature ruing our civilization.

Its a lot tougher to destory a planet than people think. One, the human race will find a way to manage; we always have. Lastly, I don't care because I'll be a thousand years dead before anything happens; if anything happens which nobody has proven.

Scientists talk about global warming and ecocultures disappearing but its all only been simulations so far and no true data has been discovered.

Is is possible? Yes. Is it probable? Hmm...

I guess it really depends on what you feel is 'destroying' the planet, and what you mean by it, before I could offer any guesses.

We will destroy this planets ability to support us within your life time. The problems we have already made will bury us. And if we try to fix them, we will make it worse. Ever heard of Entropy. Things go from order to disorder, and to make something orderly again will only cause more disorder. Entropy only moves in one direction, it can never be negative. The only thing we can do is slow Entropy down - we cannot stop it.

the earth will change a lot because of the actions we are taking. Lots of animals will go extinct.

Lots of places will be fine to live in, though.
