here is something to ponder
one of the words hidden in the title of broker is "BROKE"
Irregardless wheter you are talking about a mortgage or a real estate broker, being in the field of service sales, the technincal part of knowledge, is something that is relatively straight forward to learn, and with huge income potential.
However, the technical knowledge about the specific industry, will not make you successfull in that industry. It is the much more essential part of most self employed businesses, that will make that business successful.
We call it prospecting, lead generation and or data base managment. So if you wanted to be a great success in either one of these businesses, ask yourself this key questions, how many people do I need to know in order to succeed in my field, how many do I know right now, and what am I ready willing and able to do to increase the number of people know me as the person to talk to about either real estate or mortgages.
And what will you be willing to do to consistently stay in touch with all those that you know so that you will create, increase and maintain top of mind awareness, with all those that you hope to do business with directly or from whom you hope and expect to receive referrals.
So when you ask what is good about being a broker, it can be as great as you wnat it to be, as long as you realize that this a business where 85 % of the money is made by 15 % of the people in it, and those that really succeed at it, are extremely good at something that has little to do with the technical skills, but very good at the lead generation and lead conversion.
A great book to read, about the business of real estate is called the millionaire real estate agent, by gary keller, it shows and identifies the systems and activities needed to ensure success in not just real estate but in most businesses
Over the past 20 + years in real estate, I have trained well over 200 agents in some fashion, and the most successfull agents have their ability to stay in touch with most of their clients to credit for their success.
Off course doing a superior job, during each and every transaction, is important at the time, but most agents still would loose the future business from their very happy clients, if they did not stay in touch.
Good luck

being a broker is the amount of money we make, and the freedom that comes with it.
