yes eBay allows sellers to end the auction early, even if there are bids if the item is lost or stolen, broken, or there was an error in the listing

Absolutely. Just say the item was damaged and pull it. As long as your bidder has not actually paid you anything, it is your right, and obligation if the item is not in the same condition as the listing states it is.

But then you won't get a free ad and you probably shouldn't sell it again (or for a long time at least).
