Before Christmas - take your wife out for a very nice steak dinner at a cozy, dimly lit restaurant.
On Christmas Eve (after the hustle and bustle - visiting family, getting kids to be - if you have kids, etc.) build a fire in the fireplace, open a bottle of wine, and watch A Christmas Carol together in front of the fireplace. Turn off all the lights - and just have the lights of the Christmas tree making a pretty, soft glow.

You could get her some jewelry and hide it on the Christmas tree on a bulb and help her find it. You could also do a scavenger hunt where each clue is answered by a small present leading up to a bigger or better present.
If you have kids you could treat her to a day alone, no kids, maybe at a spa or a shopping spree. Or a small book of coupons for things around the house, Laundry, dishes, cooking etc.
If you put a little thought into it and show her that she matters to you she will love it no matter what
Happy Holidays

Time spent together wins out over pricey gifts every time. Do something she likes rather than what you want to do: a movie you would not normally see but you know she would enjoy, a mid-week dinner at a quiet family-type restaurant, a weekend at a bed and breakfast. Listen to what she says and I'm sure you'll pick up some ideas directly from her.

snuggle in front of a fireplace with hot chocolate, coffee or tea. talk about Christmas past and then this one along with future ones. my wife and I took a walk hand in hand around the neighborhood looking at the lights, before coming back home and snuggling. we talked about the past, present and future as to what we wanted to do. please whatever you do remember the good times for nothing lasts forever, except one's memories. and some times the Holidays can cause a man to cry remembering " what might have been had She lived a little longer. What you can do really depends upon where you live. Perhaps you can rent a limo to drive you around to see the Christmas lights. In some cities, carriage rides are available.
