Typical early 40's couple. I'm not very good at doing the little romantic things in our relationship. I'd like some ideas on what I can do for her.

next time you take a shower make a big heart or write I LOVE YOU on the mirror in the bathroom in the steam so that when she takes a shower and steams the mirror she sees it.

I have a few ideas, but feel free to modify them to fit your needs. I would do a few simple things like if she works and takes a lunch with her, make her a simple lunch and just include a little I love you note inside the bag. You could draw her a nice bubble bath, bathe her and then give her a nice massage with oils. Massage oils are fairly inexpensive, but even more fun is if you make them yourself. Cook her a romantic dinner, there are many options here and it really just depends on setting the mood. Candle lit table & room are a plus. If it's more sexual in nature for the romance, get home before her, make sure the house is straightened up, drop rose petals from the front door to the bedroom, and be waiting for her arrival with a bottle of chilled wine.

That depends a lot on what she likes. It needs to come across as something sincere, not just something you think you are supposed to be doing.
A lot of women enjoy being called during the day just to talk.
Try leaving little notes where she will find them...it shows you were thinking about her even when she wasn't watching you.
Sweep out the garage is sometimes popular :)

Real simple..cook a meal clean the dishes afterwards. Take the kids out for the day to give her some alone time if you have them. Clean the house for a week.. That's real romantic

Well at least you are trying some men don't even bother so I would like to commend you. What i like to suggest is maybe a weekend getaway meaning a nice romantic hotel something like this www.sybaris.com. Have nice dinner and a movie. Give her some roses. Trust me she will love it!!!!!!!

Give her some time to herself. Take care of the kids so she can soak in a tub in peace.
Start her car up in the morning so it is warm when she goes to work.
Hire a babysitter and take her out for dinner (doesn't have to be expensive) and a movie mid-week.
