How do you pronounce "noob". I say NEW-BE, but my friend says NEWB as one syllable. Who is correct?

You are both correct.

It used to be more commonly pronounced as: NEW-BIE. But, as etymologies change, it is now more frequently pronounced: NOOB.

Noob is pronouced the way it is spelled. Newbie has the same meaning but is pronouced New Bee.
