It will cut our losses. Nothing we do will ever make the Middle East "stable", "democratic" or "peaceful", so we might as well leave now. Will all hell break loose? Yes, and it will in 10 years or 20 years or 50 years. So go ahead and get it over with.
Will there be consequences for the US? Sure, but maybe we should have thought / cared about that BEFORE we invaded and occupied a country that had done NOTHING to us.

Because it costs too much $$$ to provide US Army combatants with McDonald's Big Mac, Budweiser, Pizza, Sattellite TV, etc.. in Iraq. The US politicians got their $$$ from the oil companies and so now it's time to get out!

it may be that people are getting around to thinking, with all of the deaths of the soldiers, that it is getting too risky, and too many people are getting killed, and those peoples families then want to protect others families from experiencing the same grief that they are experiencing
