It's always bothered me that LIBERAL is seen as a dirty word. It's the root of the word LIBERATE, which is what all the good conservatives claimed we were doing in Iraq. They see liberation as a good thing.... over THERE.

HERE, liberating people and things is wrong? According to them, we're supposed to conserve at all costs... our money, our values, our ethics. Meanwhile, the world thinks our country is a fiscally irresponsible, out of control imperial juggernaut - under the conservative leadership!

WTF?

(PS - I am not a liberal)

Great play on words!

Liberal, in the classic sense, does not refer to a political party. It refers to changing the status quo. Conservative, again in the classic sense, is to keep the status quo. Now, those terms refer to political parties, not to the actual political intents of those parties.

Liberal was coined as a bad term during the Reagan administration, where (in one of the better political brandings in history, in a political stick-it-to-your opponents sense) liberal was successfully defined as "Wuss", or "Communist".

In reality, Liberal is a term for a more progressive, socialist agenda, including education, lower class support, healthcare, and progressive taxation (e.g. bigger government - but not so much now). Conservative is a term for less government intrusion, more military power, and generally revising the government. Of course, there are more nuanced positions within each, but this is just a general overview.

You sound plenty like me as quickly as I first grew to grow to be interested in politics. super revelations observed via discovery (generally that i grow to be incorrect, or extra wisely, not one hundred% precise). be careful making use of too huge of a broom on an identical time as portray conservatives. i've got not got self assurance there desires to be new checks, the form is passable sufficient for those purposes. What desires to renounce is legislations from the bench in the ideally suited court. shop analyzing and shop getting to understand and don’t restrict your self to in simple terms one fringe of the political spectrum. study all of it with purpose readability.
