I've seen and heard a bit, loads of fanfictions, fanbooks, and pairings of characters based on the original works. In Japan, pairings of characters, mostly men with men, are enormous!! Take the newest Japanese craze "Naruto" for instance. How would you think the original author will react to this? I'd be embarassed, really.....

Creepy, to the max. It also makes me sad when I see this kind of thing...it's like the spinoff...and spinoffs are never good. Except Fraser, which ended up being better than Cheers...but that's where it ends.

I don't know for certain, but, you know what they say, "imitation (whatever it's form) is the sincerest form of flattery". I don't know if I would be flattered, but it might open a nice avenue for a law suet.
