Hi, breeze blocks are made from 'coke breeze', it is a natural quarried product like coal.

Coke breeze is heat processed in an oven, then cement 'glued' and compressed by machine into block shapes.

The most three most common blocks used in the UK are,
4.5 newton breeze blocks, used in house building for their good thermal rating (insulating properties), they are warmer to touch!

7.0 newton blocks made from concrete and breeze, and usually used to build garden walls or garages and decorative areas. Although heavier and less popular! They have a lower thermal rating and are colder to touch!
These are more concrete than breeze. Not a breeze to lay! Very heavy hard work.

And Thermalite blocks, grey or white in colour, which are easier to lay, fairly cheap and sometimes longer in size, so quicker. Easily identified by their 'squiggley' lines which are there to allow plaster to have a good 'key' onto the surface.
