I think you should take a second and put yourself in other peoples shoes. Race is a sensitive subject. It always will be. Why do you think that is?
In order really answer your own question you should step out of your own shoes for a second. You may not be a bad white person. I am not either. But that doesnt mean that other races haven't and still aren't being mistreated by mostly whites.
Just don't think you know something till you lived it.
To think that white people have done no harm is clearly a good reason for anyone to get mad.
My answer is.. We take the heat for the many that are racist. Walk down the street in a (rich) white neighborhood as another nationality mostly black. People hold their bags close, won't look at them, judge them, and assume they will get mugged. It happens. Instead of getting mad, try to understand it.
We all HUMANS make mistakes, and learn what we've seen as we grew up. We are what we are. Just live your own life. and try to remember that everyone comes from a different background.

Here's another 'Flower child' that has grown up in the civil rights era. (I'm with you Morning Glory)
I imagine that some young people don't know about the fight that went on to gain some equality for the black people and what horrible things were taking place just 30 and 40 years ago towards them.
Also, I'd like to see a legitimate question about
race and minorities on this forum. So far most questions would make anyone jump and holler!
As for white people feeling the brunt of racism, it's just the pendulum swinging and it's our turn.

It has nothing to with that, people jump the gun when they see questions like that because they always see as being asked in a negative way. So instead of actually reading what the person is asking "some" people jump the gun. Race is a very touchy subject for some people, me i really don't care, i know it's out there, but what can you do about it. You can use the term "Black" that what we are. Racism against white people does exist of course, just as racism against every other nationality. Then you have close minded people who makes stupid and dump comments, so you can't just blame one race either.

Dear child, obviously you did not live back in the 50s and 60s. I am white as china but these people have been stomped on, stereotyped, excluded, slaughtered, bombed and a few other unmentionable things. They are hostile cause they know that a lot of prejudice still exists even today (go south young lady and see for yourself). Now you listen to grandma cause she was there okay. Remarks should not even be made about color or other minorities and people need to be extra kind to everyone. I follow the news and yes even whites are disciminated against at times, especially white women. Gma

I think the reason people jump on you is bc race is a touchy subject. A lot of people get offended when you talk about race. Our history in our country isn't the greatest and a lot of people try to avoid having questions about race and religion. So don't take it personal when people come at you like that, you are probably misunderstood bc you can't express yourself the way you want to by typing and people perceive things different from you when reading it.

It really depends on how the question was asked. Ive found that a majority of the time when someone asks a question about black people, they are not really looking for a legitimate answer. More like people who agree with their ignorant views. More often than not, the questions are hostile. On YA we're always having to defend ourselves against the ignorance of others. I am more than happy to give valid answers for legitimate questions. But, usually you will find the questions are filled with stereotypes, and always has a negative connotation behind it. Then when we do answer legitimately, we'll usually get tons of thumbs down because we are not in agreement with the white majority.

People are just responding to your clear racism.
Some people just have a hard time not reacting with hostility toward nazis such as yourself.
It's generally because what you believe in has caused such harm in our world, but there are also some people who simply have bad tempers.
Hope that helps.

Because that is the way they have been thought by their family members. The only way they can relay on anything when trying to get something they want is to say "because I am .......", and because they are stupid. African tribes conquer one another and then sell them for money and that is what happen years ago, white people just took advantage of the cheap labor that is all. But they blame us the whites.

Its because they dont want to admit to themselves that they to are racists.regardless of the color personally i believe their are more racists against white people than any other color. because of past historys not because of actual present day situations.
I believe most people want the right to say they are better because "the man is trying to keep them down" when in reality
even people in there own cultures would put them down.
and yes the sooner they can shut you up the better because they already have a pre-disposed idea of who you are based on nothing more than your color.Just like we do for them.
the never ending cycle of how not to judge at the least that you will be judged as well.
