Once you're downtown in the financial district, there's Chinatown, the Embarcadero (upscale shopping centers spanning four city blocks), ride the cable cars. Around 4th and Market Streets there's the Museum of Modern Art. Restaurants are everywhere. Visit North Beach. Visit the marina and Pier 39 where there are hundreds of shops, restauraunts, and Fishermen's Wharf. You can take a bay cruise aboard the Red and White fleet from there. Leaving downtown and heading west, visit Golden Gate Park and the deYoung Museum there. Further west through the park visit Stow Lake and rent a boat. When you get to the west end of the park you will be at the Pacific Ocean. Visit Ocean Beach and the Cliff House. The San Francisco Zoo is south of there along the Great Highway. There is a fine coastal trail that takes you from above the Cliff House to the Golden Gate Bridge. You can walk or bike across the Golden Gate Bridge.
There are so many things to do in San Francisco, just show up downtown and walk around.

Well, then I would think Fisherman's Wharf is a must. There are so many different sights in SF but if you can see the wharf, the ocean, get a peek at Alcatraz and shop to your heart's content you will have it made =) Also, maybe try to take a ride on a cable car. It is an experience, but something to remember about the city!

I agree with everyone's suggestions. Here's another thing you can do: a tour of haunted places in San Francisco. I've gone twice so far. I love it. You get to learn about the history of the city and the personalities who lived (and died) there. I've been on the SF Ghost Hunt, but it looks like there's another one in Haight-Ashbury. I have the websites listed below.

Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, cable cars, Golden Gate Park - there used to be a big aquarium there, don't know if it's still operating though. Dress in layers - it may be warm during the day, but once the sun starts to go down and the fog rolls in, it gets COLD!!!
