if you are having a boy, your face gets really ugly, your nose flattens out and if you are having a girl, you keep a pretty face. What the heck is that about?

That can happen to you if you develop preeclampsia or have a lot of edema or swelling. My sister had a lot of problems with that in her last month. She developed a pregnancy mask (where your skin gets darker on some parts of your face) and her face was so swollen that her nose was kind of bigger and stretched out. But, I don't think it has to do with the sex of the baby, just how your body is dealing with sodium, sugar, and toxins.

it's just old tales. like women who are pregnant shouldn't reach over their head because they'll strangle the baby with the cord.
little myths that were used to guess gender and everything in the old days.
i'm pregnant with a boy, i still look the same, the only thing i noticed is that i am carrying low, which is a tale saying it's a boy, but really it just depends on how your body carries the baby!

Its a myth like everything else, like when ppl say if you carry low, or mostly baby, or all in front or whatever, you cant tell what the baby is by looking at the mother you have to use and ultrasound machine and those aren't 100% either, i was surprised with all 3 of my kids and i must say i loved it! Good Luck and congratulations!

Actually, I've heard the opposite....but I think it's all crap anyway....I just had a boy 8 months ago...my face didn't break out, I didn't carry low or any of the other "stories" you get told during pregnancy....

It's because pregnancy can make your face swell, give you acne, and make your nose broaden just a little bit. True pregnancy fact, although it has nothing to do with the sex - some women are just unlucky (including myself).

It's an old wive's tale. And, it's supposed to be that a girl will "take away" from your beauty and a baby boy will make you look better. It's all a bunch of garbage - don't listen to it!

People just come up with some crazy things! It's like when they say if your having a boy you will carry him high if it's a girl you'll carry low. It's just stuff that people come up with. It doesn't actually mean anything.

It's bunk. Heh, I had one of each (fraternal twins), so I guess it balanced itself out and I looked normal...either that or I should've looked like a Picasso or something. Either way, it's bunk! It's just an old wives tale!

Actually, I've heard the opposite, baby girls steal their mother's beauty. It's just old wives' tales. Nothing to worry about.
