Ah, but Stargazer...how does one get to know someone without first getting through the surface? Hence the question.

No it's whats underneath the surface that is the biggest obstacle that's why you never judge a book by its cover

Yes. The surface is the biggest and hardest obstacle; think of a turtle's shell, or the shell of any animal. The skin of a whale or other sea mammal....or a good wineskin that will not break :)

It's an obstacle, but also a shield ;)

It really just depends. We'd all like to think the surface is the biggest obstacle, but sometimes what's underneath is far more difficult to accept.

Yes at times,but the surface isn't the real person...So even after getting though the surface you still don't know anything about the person. Just what they have allowed one to see.
