Hello Sternchen,
Although you haven't said what aspect(s) of your life you're wondering about changing (and is this YOUR life, or someone else's?), a very simple guideline can apply here. Simply, how much control do you have over the area you would like to change? If you are fighting an unhill battle against people and forces which want you to be one way, then it's a matter of overcoming this opposition, as well as doing your own work to change. If you are your own judge, then the first step is to seriously think through what it would mean to you to "change". That is, what would you be willing to give up to reach your goal, and what would you be willing to do, as well? If the desired result isn't worth the work or effort, then what's there to motivate you? Try to search for motivation which makes sense to you, and then create a plan which works for you, personally-- not someone else's plan which only makes sense to them. I wish you the best of luck with this!
Take good care, Dr. PsychologistSays

Well yes and no. I am an assistant clinical psychologist and my understanding of your question is that you have particular aspects of your life that you may want changing. For example giving up smoking or cutting down on the demon drink? If this is what you mean by your question, then yes we can change our lives, it may not be easy but it can be done. However it is also important to remember that we are who we are and being happy with our individuals’ selves is extremely important. So if you want to change make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Like the old saying goes ‘give me the wisdom to accept the things I cannot change and the strength to change the things I can’ Good luck!

If I can change my way of life and thinking anyone can. I lived in a world full of negativity, then someone in my family made a remark that was to change everything for me. I bought a book called "Change your life in 7 days" by Paul Mckenna, (you can usually find it on ebay) well the results were amazing, I began to feel more positive, more motivated, lost a few pounds in weight, regainged my self confidence and enroled at the gym, I am taking swimming lessons though had been afraid of the water,
Take that first step and the others with follow suit. good luck.

It depends how much you want to and how big the challenge is. I gave up booze 20 years ago . I married a Russian lady and moved to Russia frm England . Both were life changing situations for me . I am glad I did both. So , the answer is complex, but if you feel you need to, go for it , but make sure it is going to be a change for the better

Changing something in your life is easy, but thinking about changing is difficult.
I recently moved to a new town and now I have to commute to work. Trying to organise the move was incredibly stressful, but the actual moving was very easy and I settled into a much differant lifestyle extremely quickly.
Course, it's probably slighty less simple if your'e trying to kick a heroin habit.

Not hard to change it for the worse- that can just happen with no effort at all. Changing for the better can be a real struggle, though. Especially if it's a deep hole we're in...

no its simple.
you could get up from where you are right now, get a ticket for somewhere far away, and leave everything behind today and start afresh.
it would take a bit of courage
but ive done it so i know its possible.
question is
how much do you really want to change?
or are you only ever gonna tinker round the edges

its not hard to change your life, you can move house, change jobs, meet new people
but its not at all easy to change yourself, so before you change anything drastic remember you'll still be the same person and your life is still likely to follow the same patterns.
as my mum once said to me, wherever you go, there you are

depends how much you want to change! Ive spent 17 years as a chef and im now in my final year at uni studying to be a radiographer. Was it hard? well yes, cos uni isnt easy, but the bonuses from it are worth every penny. You only get as much from life as you put in it....easy really

Not if you really want or need it. It can be a challenge sometimes but you have to think if it is for the better than it is something you have to do. I won't lie you will get discouraged and ask yourself why do I even bother but they payoff is so much better. Hope everythignworks out for you.
