i think that vaseline would be your best bet. i swear by vaseline, i prefer so much more than chapstick, no matter where i go i carry my lil container of vaseline, not only does it moisturize dry lips but it also works great under your lipstick or lipgloss

You can first help eliminate the problem of dry lips by drinking more water. And as an aid you should try Vaseline or Carmex. I know some people don't care for the menthol in Carmex, but Vaseline doesn't have any serious cons.

I tried vaseline and carmex and still think vaseline is the best. Not only does it works wonder, esp for dry and bitter winter and air-condition room, it is cheap too.
Try to carry a small tube of vaseline along with you during day time and apply it as and when needed, not only during bed time, to ensure smooth and soft lip. It can also be applied over or under lipstick.

You need to try Rawleigh Medicated Ointment. My great grandparents thought this stuff was the cure-all for colds (used like Vick's Vapor Rub) to a sore throat. However, I've found it to be EXCELLENT for really dry, chapped lips. I put it on every night before I go to bed... and 1 tin last a lifetime. You used to be able to find it at old drugstores, but nowadays you have to order it online... But it is THE BEST!

Avon's Moisture Intensive lip balm is the best stuff I've ever used, and I am not just saying that. Plus at 69 cents, the price can't be beat!

I would have to recommend Bepanthen cream. It was recommended to me by my dermatologist as being amazing for dried lips. I can't go to sleep without it on my lips now. And in the morning it is still there! Don't be put off by the fact that it's original use is for diaper/ nappy rash, it is a fantastic lip cream as well.
Good luck!

Vasaline would work very well. You could also try a medicated lip balm which would help heal the small cuts and sores that develop on your lips when they get overly dry.
