making a box for a journal jar project for my daughter for christmas and wanting to cover it with various colors of tissue paper. Any other neat and creative ideas would be greatly appreiciated.

If you haven't found any patterned tissue paper you like, try looking at a party supply store for patterned paper napkins. You can just use the top, printed layer and decoupage to the box as you would tissue paper. Try cutting out motifs from the napkin and layer them over tissue paper. If you do some random gold leafing on the box before adding the tissue paper or napkins, you will achieve a luminous look. Another pretty look is to sponge paint the box using 2 complimentary colors and gold....pour some of each color onto a plastic lid or plate and dip a sea sponge into all 3 colors at once, with a little space between colors and keep sponging until the colors have blended into a marble-like look. Find a patterned gift wrap with motifs you can cut out and decoupage over the sponged surface. This turns out very elegant looking.

Use standard computer paper and print favorite pictures and decoupage along with the colored tissue. You could also antique the pics.
