No, PEOPLE, women OR men, cheat because they are weak and believe that other people control them and their emotions. Stop complaining and take control of your life. You only hurt yourself and others when you cheat.

It's really rather basic. Regardless of whether it's a woman or a man cheating, the reason is that there is some need that the cheater feels is not being met. It could be emotional connection, or attention, or simply sexual desire.
Why however, if one is NOT getting what one needs and is driven to cheat, doesn't the cheater instead simply END THE RELATIONSHIP? Why did YOU feel the need to cheat? If it wasn't working out the way you wanted, why didn't you do the honest thing and simply end it? What need were YOU fufilling by maintaining a relationship that wasn't satisfying to you?

Give me a break. That over used excuse that he or she is not giving me what I want is simply a way of saying: I want my cake and eat it too. It' totally a juvenile self centered response. If you really are stagnating or being abused in a dead relationship then get out of it. That's the mature thing to do. The rationale behind an affair is to get what you want without giving up what you have in a clandestine and dishonest way. For the person committing the deception it is a temporary high until they get caught or the paramour dumps them. That's when they opt to find a sympathetic psychologist placate the scorned spouse with fictional rationalizations. It's an immoral and deceitful action that no self respecting psychologist should give credence to.

I think it is true also. My husband and I have always had a lack of communication in our marriage, and no common interests.
I ended up having a long-distiance emotional affair this year with an ex. Long story.
I liked talking to my ex. It was fun to have someone to open up about life, interests and goals.
But what do you do when your husband doesn't listen to you? If he gets bored easily by what you say, zones out on the TV, and resents the things you like and vice versa.
I'm not trying to justify my behavior.
I'm just agreeing with you.
I miss my ex, but I had to let him go when my husband kept saying my boyfriend was calling everytime my cell phone rang....

What a load of rubbish, a relationship is a 2 way partnership, you have to work at it so it will flourish, if neglected it will wilt like flowers without water, If one wants to cheat they will cheat whether all may appear perfect on the surface.or not. what about the cheating men? what excuse do they have?

I think that's a really pretty way of restating the obvious. I can think of less flattering ways of saying the same thing. In terms of the words, not you personally, I'd have to relate this to the concept of putting lipstick on a pig. To gain any insight into your situation, you'll have to go deeper, and avoid self-justification.

Women cheat for reason that they are usually responsible for. If they are not getting the emotional whatever they need it is usually their on fault. Women create the situations they rebel against. And 9 times out of 10 they cheat with people the later regret or never intended sleeping with.

I personally believe that it's basically that way for both sexes. Yeah, once in awhile you get those that just like to sleep around, but I think guys feel that way too. I've witnessed several marriages going down the drain because the woman was domineering, or uncaring, or nagged constantly. At the same time, I've seen men that just didn't understand. They were too "macho" to care what their wife thought.

Yes women are more emotional and men are more physical. A guy can cheat just to get his DICK wet. Women on the other hand usually need a reason (well atleast when they are in a committed relationship)...
