I am looking for a good, preferably free, on line writers forum to share information, ask questions, maybe chat to other writers?

Yes and this is a good one that has been going for over four years... there are lots of experienced writers who like to share info and idea and also willing to answer questions...

Check out any meet-ups in your city..most places will have one for writers. Also check out yahoo groups etc.
Simply run a search for writers groups (your city).
Check the library to see if they have any in your area

i've got discovered that a physically powerful writers team is My Writers Circle (see below). they're friendly, informative, and supply rattling stable evaluations. There are sections for chat, queries and evaluations - and that's unfastened. the advice is backed up with the help of distinctive revealed authors, so expert help, with years of adventure is handy, and all of us is somewhat beneficiant with help.
