I think the same of lawyers with bad backs on disability benefit. Hope someone has the answer. I might be able to apply it to my pet hate :-)
Suppose we could stop paying taxes or sign on ourselves?

You can avoid paying money towards the Royal Family any one can, it is not legal, but to the best of my knowledge very few cases have been brought to trial, this is due to a loophole in the Legal Taxation of Legal Law which for the past 2 years slowly gatherd momentum amongst discussions being held within the House of Lords, regarding the following: No Judge or Any Person with Permisions Given For Power of Taxation Law Or Inherited Rites of Antiquity Of Giving Powers For Laws of Taxationcanno longer As No Power In Law Can Impose legal taxation Nor Claim Taxation . Now go try commit suicide no taxation But Royal Family Still Getting An Income From You Every Note You Get Is A Thank You Note With Her Smile God Bless Es 2

jxh487 has a good answer, but is wrong in assuming Commonwealth countries like Canada and New Zealand somehow pay for the monarchy. The only cost incurred is when the royal visit, and this is the same when they visit a republic. They pay for their governors general, but there is no tribute sent to London to subsidise the royals.
You might feel less angry if you looked more closely at the work they do. They do nit need to live on the scale that they do but are not layabouts.

I think this principle should be applied to ALL layabouts in the UK.
Lets do away with the dole and social housing think of the millions that could then be used in the NHS, caring for the elderly who are really unable to work, and decent education system.
I don't think the 3p a year we pay for the Royal family is going to do much, but taking away the dole and social housing, would make layabouts work and stop illegal immigrants charging to our doorstep....you can't blame them, if all you have to do is get to the UK and you get a house and money....its the system thats at fault.

Right, you don't have to leave the country completely. you can stay for up to 90 days in any continuous 365 day periods and AVOID paying income tax.
Be aware that VAT, Capital gains, fuel duty etc will also go to the govt and then on to the royal family.
I don't feel strongly either way about the royals, if you do there is a neat trick you can perform. Just believe that your money goes to pay for whatever you want it to pay for. No-one can deny that it's true as all beliefs are sacred in this day and age. for anyone to disagree with you would be equivalent to denying you your right to religious expression. Just keep repeating that you believe this and then take whoever doesn't belive you to court for mocking your beliefs. you might even win.
Personally all the taxes that I pay go towards saving puppies.

Now you see, the rather marvellous thing about the great realm of Britain is that its citizens (on a net basis, you may say) pay nothing for our cherished head of state and her extended family, and you would indeed note if you had considered all sources of income, and not just your personal taxes, that HM and family contribute a great deal to this nations revenues. This is particular true in terms of tourism. Indeed what, apart from Stratford Upon on Avon (which is far too small a place to make any sort of "killing", as it were), would our well endowed American and Japanese tourists come to do without our Royal Family.
Seriously though, I would think it prudent for you to consider that HM and family generate the main portion of their disposable, domestic income through the management of private assets, including estates and farms. In addition you must consider that every reasonable country must have a head of state, and therefore fund them, and their diplomatic and official functions, through taxes. Yo should count yourself lucky that you live in a remarkable, and might I say unique country, where in fact our head of state practically funds itself.
Moreover, if you still would like to 'point the finger' at someone or thing, than perhaps you should reference our greedier by the day politicians, who often do bugger all and demand 150K for it.
Case closed. Accept it, or emigrate to a country where you will have to pay even more taxes for an unremarkable and unprofitable head of state. Unless of course you emigrate to Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the Carribean where you will also be paying taxes to support the same Queen and her family, or her subordinates (i.e. the relevant Governors of those realms)

For a start, they do not leach off the country, and they do not take your hard earned money. They are not payed by the Treasury to live it up, but to carry out their official duties. This was about £37 million last year, only about 62p per person in the UK.
Even so, the vast majority of the Queens money comes from her large land holdings and private investments.
To quote the royal site:
"Head of State expenditure is met from public funds in exchange for the surrender by The Queen of the revenue from the Crown Estate. In the financial year to 31 March 2006 the revenue surplus from the Crown Estate paid to the Treasury amounted to £190.8 million.
Head of State expenditure for 2005-06 was £37.4 million."
http://www.royal.gov.UK/output/Page4965.asp
As you can see she pays the treasury far more than they pay her. It makes you wonder why they even pay her out of the treasury in the first place if she pays it all back, but the end result is the same, she pays the country more than they pay her, and she bring in tourism.

Her Majesty the Queen and HRH Prince of Wales have income from their estates which is paid directly to the Exchequer. They also pay income tax and receive from the Exchequer a vastly smaller amount than they put in. From this miserable sum the Queen has to support all the other "Royal" hangers on. So on balance "your" money is not going to the Royal Family at all

If you hate them so much, move out of Great Britain. My suggestion, move somewhere close like Ireland, but not Northern Ireland, that's part of the UK, move to the US, move anywhere that Queen Elizabeth isn't the head of state of so study up and figure out where those places are and don't go there. I.E. No to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, British Virgin Islands, and many more.

Nice try, but that's not quite the way a Brit would put it. However, as your speech patterns clearly show you are American, how about substituting President for British Royal Family? It works both ways.

I suggest you move to the U.S. Then, your hard earned money can go to paying all kinds of layabouts!
We have to pay for the President's family and their protection. Not much we can do about it either.
Sorry, old friend!
