If you are in Canada, HRDC (Human Resouorce Development Canada) offers a variety of excellant programs for those who are curently receiving some kind of unemployment benefit. Again, within Canada, you are eligible for maternity benefits as a part of the Employment Insurance Program.

Check out local local Children and Family Services office as well. Frequently they will offer programs to provide some kind of training r aid to help you get throught the rough patches.
Another good source is your local YWCA. Here in Vancouver, the local "Y" offers a program to "intern" folks with positions in the federal governement. It does not pay great but it does give you excellant training and can often provide you with the "foot in the door that you might need.

Another alternative would be your Social Assistance Office - Welfare. Let me qualify this however - you might not want to recieve welfare but most people do not know that there are two types of Assistance - General and Hardship. General is the regular monthly aid and hardship is designed for people who are exeriencing a rough patch and will likley land back on their feet. The biggest difference is that General you can be on for a very long time; Hardship you have to pay back. The stigma that is associated with Welfare typically is directed to the General program, where you can become a "welfare bum" but if you only need help, then look at it as two separte types - Welfare and Assistance.

However, if you are not receiving any benefits, you may want to try out some temp agencies or perhaps a trip to your local shopping mall. Might be a good place to start with the Christmas shopping season upon us.

Being an employeer, we are always loking for part time or temp help to carry through the busy seasons. For us, December is reasonable but January will be nuts. Retail will be looking for a substantial amount of help through December but then January will slow down. You will likley find success is you look at stores that are swamped with people but not enough staff.

One other suggestion would be to apply for "intern positions" with large companies. Similar to the program mentioned above, they often dn't pay well but you can get some valuable training fr when you are ready to return to the workforce.

Good luck and stay healthy.

In the U.S. you are entitled to WIC, state-funded insurance, and probably food stamps. But if you are thinking about something like unemployment where the government gives you money, then you are not necissarily going to be able to get it unless you worked for a certian period of time. You need to contact your local Department of Human Services and they can set you up with the state-funded help that you are entitled too. But, I will say that this probably won't be enough for you to live on, and it definately won't pay your bills. If you can get a part-time job, one where you are sitting down a lot especially, that would probably be the best thing. My sister worked up until she had her son with no problems. As long as you are not doing any heavy lifting, you should still be able to work. And, no one can deny you a job just because you are pregnant. I suggest trying temp agencies to find an office job. Hope that helps.

If you are in the US you can get medical, which will cover your entire pregnancy at no cost. You can also apply for WIC now that you are pregnant and they will give you some food. I think that's it. Good luck sweetie. I hope your situation gets better. It's really hard to find a job if your already showing, if your not I recommend a part-time job and you will still qualify for somehelp.

Go to your local Government Aid or Welfare office and apply for assistance. Don't let anyone tell you that your wrong either. You have your baby and you take care of him or her if that's what you want. Also the father of the baby can be made liable to pay half of the medical bills as well as child support. It's a shame what women have to go through when there pregnant. You just do what you need to do to survive and Congrats along with Good Luck to you and your baby!

Being pregnant is not a disability or anything, you can still work fine. Even if you were to get on benifits from teh government, they arent very much at all. I would really suggest trying to find a part time job, and hitting the father up for child support. Good luck

WIC is a good option, may I ask who told you to relax? I am sure there is something you could do. There are lots of jobs you can do online from home. You could train to be a medical transcriptionist or there are lots of survey sites that pay little bits here and there. Sometimes lots! I would talk to your Dr about how much or how little you can do to work. I am sure you will be fine at some slow paced work place.

It is very difficult to find employment when you are pregnant if you are showing, but a temp agency will be able to hook you up with a stable, albeit temporary job. On top of this you should follow the other's advice about medical and WIC.

Well I can only speak from a woman's point of view and know that when I was pregnant I wouldn't of dated another man even if I had split from the father.

Try contacting your local department of human services. They can help you apply for medicaid, wic, food stamps and depending on how far along you are, you can qualify for cash assistance.

Try to look for a part time job because it seems like you don't have the option to just chill out. You could also go on welfare which is more trouble than it's worth.
