This person isn't a close friend. In fact we've never met in person. But I do consider this person a friend.

Yes...I think you should tell them and just get it out in the open and if you lose there friendship over that then it wasn't really a friend in the first place.

If that's the case risk it. You Will not know unless you try. I know what it feels like to have a crush on someone who i consider a friend. it was only last year we opened up to each other and now were together
