The Wise men didn't follow the star to Bethlehem when Jesus was born. They actually came to his home when he was between 1 and 2 years old. It does not actually say in the Bible how many Wise Men there were. People assume it is three because three of the gifts they brought were specifically mentioned. Fyi, there were more than three gifts.

It was 3: Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar (the black one).
They are the ones who bring presents to the kids in Spain, instead of Father Christmas.
They come on the morning of the 6th of January, the day before schools starts again. They come in camels from the Middle East.
