It might have something to do with the fact that girls like to socialize more than boys. Girls also tend to enjoy learning and advancing through hard work. I think boys tend to care less about school than girls do, as the number of women in college are surpassing the number of men.

I've read over and over again that there are more girls born than boys. When I was young, the gap was much wider. I also read somewhere that more baby boys are born during and after a war. Another source said that infant mortality is much higher for boys and suggested that birth weight for male babies is lower and therefore a factor in some countries. All schools I went to were roughly 50/50... like the greater world

Not all schools. Engineering schools are skewed to more boys than girls.
