How was Jessica mcClure rescued?

How did they get people down to her?

If I remember correctly, they drilled along the sides to get her out and secured the holes walls so the dirt couldn't collapse the hole. That was in the early 1990s in Texas, I think. I remember everyone was waiting to see if they could rescue her. They eventually did.

Sadly, the young man who actually went down into the hole and rescued her committed suicide because nothing else ever measured up to that day for him(so the note read)
