My dad told me I can get it when the price has gone down to about $300. But that means that until then I can't buy much because I have to pay for half of the $300.
Is the PS3 worth waiting for, is it worth getting, is it as good as they say?

also, if you don't mind anwsering two questions.
when do you think the ps3 will be about as cheap as $300?

It is definitely worth it.

Wii is out of the question...360 is pretty good...but PS3 is king of the next generation.

People complain about he PS3 price but let's look at it from a different angle.

Take the 360 and PS3. Now let's make them somewhat equal, i.e. pricewise and hd capability by adding the HD add on to the 360. Now you have two systems with High Def capability, and same price, since the HD addon is $200.

360-20 gigs while ps3-60 gigs

360-tri core processor, ps3-8 core processor

360-HD DVD (25 gig limit), ps3-Blu-Ray (50 gig+ limit)...not to mention more motion picture and manufactor support.

Two systems, same price. People complain about the price tag yet you get more for your money with the PS3. And with a technologically superior system, comes greater capabilities. That is why PS3 is king.

Also, I don't see it going down to 300 anytime in the next 3 years.

First: Sony will not allow the PS3 price to drop below or anywhere near $300, too much money would be lost. The only way that would happen is if Sony is going to release a new console. It will take 2 years before any price drop is annouced, and it will be like a $75-$100 drop max.

Sony Fans will say the PS3 is worth the price. Xbox Fans will say the Xbox360 is better. Basically its whoever is a fan of whatever console. Xbox 360 has a year lead on both the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii. As of this moment the 360 is the best console on the market, with tons of games.

Its only a persons opinion that will tell you which is better. As for me, I'm waiting to see if the PS3 can out-do the 360 with its second generation of games. If the 360 stays on par with the PS3 then I'm headed towards the 360. For me March 2007 is the key to either the PS3's success or Xbox as the new king. March 2007 is when most of PS3 exclusive titles come out.

To say PS3 has tons of problems compared to the 360 is a joke. All launch consoles have nearly the same amount of problems. This should not be considered since it is only a few months into the consoles life cycle.

If you can't spend more than $300 then your safe to get the Nintendo Wii. If you don't care about graphics, and care about interactive gameplay then the Wii is a good choice. Unless you are into more Mature and Teen games, then that is a different story.

Ultimately its your choice, and what type of gaming experience you want. You can try by going to stores like Best Buy, or Eb/gamestop and playing the consoles yourself.

Ok for a video game 600 bucks I mean who could be out of there mind to pay that much. I think since you can only pay 300 try the Xbox 360 or if you like interactive games, the Wii. I know you might have heard bad things about the Xbox 360 but if you do get one all I have to say is put it on a hard surface and don't move the xbox 360 while it is on and you are playing a game. I've played the Xbox 360 even without HD and the graphics are amazing and the games are so fun! Also I don't think they will drop to 300 bucks until like 2-3 years Im guessin.

Well my theory on all game systems is the same, don't worry so much about price as you do generation. I refuse to buy first generation systems (the first ones to be made and come out), they are the ones with all the bugs and problems that weren't caught the first time around and end up showing up once the buyers get it home.

By the time the second generation comes out the price is usually lowered a bit. As for it dropping down to $300....that isn't going to happen anytime soon. You'll be waiting years upon years for that. When that day finally rolls around you will either no longer have an interest in it, or else you'll be wanting a different newer system.

Is it worth getting? Depends on your like or dislike for different types of games. If you like sports or strat games I'd say a 360 is in your best interest. If you like a large variety, PS3 is your kind of system, if you like innovation and fun family oriented games, a Wii is the way to go. It's really all about your personal taste, not what everyone else wants or likes.

So basically...no it wont drop anytime soon, not to half it's price, and all the systems are worth getting, but it depends on how much you'll use them.

Hope that helped some.

It probably won't ever go down to $300. They loose $200 on each system sold right now as it is. If it were ever to go down to $300 it would be years from now. You're better off getting a 360. Here's why.

First. Games. Microsoft has been picking up all the rookies with a lot of potential while Sony has stuck with it's companies that have made great games in the past but are old and need to retire. The most relevant example is SqaureEnix. They made some of the greatest games ever, but they can't keep up with the younger generation's needs and wants and will suffer dearly for their inability to keep up. Sony will be plagued by this in the future and Microsoft will pull ahead as it's picking up the younger, more fresh players while Nintendo will continue making kids games and games that are "fun," which will keep them in the race as much if not more than Sony.

Second. Reliability. Ps2 had more problems than any fan would admit. Ps3 has be enduring many, many problems in it's first few weeks of release. Granted 360 had a number of problems in it's initial release, Ps3 still should look better than this.

Third. Capabilities. On a scale of 1-10 for total game graphics, sound and playability, the consoles rate as fallows. Wii 5-6. Xbox 360 8. Ps3 8.5-9. They're really isn't much difference between the 360 and the Ps3. Xbox has a rich online community that Ps3 will have to copy to keep up. Wii's online allows downloads of old NES and some Sega games. Plans for Nintendo 64 games are in the works for download able content.

Ps3 has Blu-ray and if you believe that's the future of DVD then you'd be better off buying a Ps3 than a Blu-ray player as the Ps3 is about $200-$1000 cheaper than a player.

360 has a HD-Drive that you can purchase for $200 and if you believe HD-DVD is the future then there you go.

Wii has no DVD support.

Wii is the cheapest system and it would be "fun." Nintendo has always been a parent friendly system and is great for younger kids.

Ps3 is the most expensive system($599 for the top system,) and would be good as a Blu-ray player.(If you want to argue the hard drive, you can buy a USB drive for XBOX and have more space than Ps3 and still be cheaper.)

360 is the ladder and has a much better set up over Sony and Nintendo. Games are great and you can expect a lot of exclusive games from 360 in 2007.

Get a 360.

I don't think it's worth 600 dollars because no game system is worth that much and Blu-ray is not yet worth it. It will be a long time before the price drops to 300 bucks, as that's half the current price of the easier-to-find model. From what I've heard, the system isn't all that great anyway.

the production cost of the PS3 is around $700.00. they are losing $100.00 on each unit. they will be makeing it up by selling the controller or other on at higher price.
Xbox 360 400 dollar for the high end version when it come out NOV 2005. as of DEC 2006 it is 400 dollar. still the same after one year.
You may have better chance going for xbox 360 at $300.
when will it drop 50-60%(with tax.)? By 3-4 year.
Gameboy advance is still the same price too.

I was in a Software Etc. store the other day, I was watching some kid play the ps3, the graphics are amazing, I just stood there, watching the amazing graphics. By the time the price goes down, you will have a much greater game selection, it is worth the wait.

1st: the ps3 will take FOREVER to go down in price (good luck with 300... that'll take even longer!)

2nd: They're building them for 875, so they're losing 275 dollars per unit

3rd: its a blu ray player too, which cost 1000 or more right now.

IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!!!!!!
