Quick question a friend made a myspace page bluhbluhbluh and it was about my school(bad things) so now the deans and stuff is gettin a grand supena thingy for the ip address but she deleted itand moved to a different city will they still find out it was her

I'd like to know what the big stink was about. I doubt they would find her. If she didn't want to be caught, and was careful, it would have to be a pretty serious offense for them to commit the necessary resources.

I've worked for years in the field of Information Technology, not specifically security and investigation, but I've considerable experience in the field.

There is not a whole lot that can be done about this. The IP address may trace which computer the page was made from, but it cannot determine who actually made it.

It must have been very bad,
for them ,to want to serve a supoena on her ,
I think the privacy laws, will work in her favor
and her address may not be obtained .

What a silly, immature thing for her to have done ,


She will carry that 'uncomfortable feeling ', of being found out ,
and caught , for a long time.

We all do stupid things , which we regret after-wards,

If they subpoena the ISP, the ISP can release logs of the who was on that IP address. It really depends on the ISP - some will release customer information only on a court order.
