The second answerer is correct. The first answerer is mistaken. I am a pediatric nurse and worked with pediatricians for over 30 years. They are loving, caring people. It takes a lot of years of training, but is well worth it. It would be great if you could talk to at least one pediatrician for some personal experience views. If you are a high school student now, maybe your Mom could help you contact the doctor who was your pediatrician to talk to. Or ask friends who have siblings about their pediatrician, or ask a guidance counsellor for a referral. Stick to your dream!

You need a bachelor's degree from college (about 4 years or more of school). Then, you need to apply to medical school, which is very competitive. Med school takes 4 years. Then you will have to do a residency in pediatric medicine, which will take 3years or more ( I can't remember the exact amount of time right now).

You need to finish high school before you go to college, so you will prob be about 17 or 18 when you start the process.

You do not need past experience. You'll get all your training in school.
