My ex says that he cannot get a job because he has a restraining order and it shows up on his background check. He says I should remove it so he can get a job. I'm sure it's not true. Does anyone know? Thanks!

It might, but that is NOT your problem. you remove that restraining order and your nightmare begins. Why are you even speaking to him if there is a restraining order? VERY frustrating for a judge to issue an order and then have the victim not even adhere to it.

No, background checks do not tend to report restraining orders, as they are a civil harrassment issue and not a criminal issue. In June of 1999, a man by the name of Simon Gonzales bought a 9 MM handgun after passing the background test. He had a restraining order issued by his ex-wife earlier in the year, and subsequently murdered her with it. So no, unfortunately backgrounds checks do not report a restraining order.

Many states vary, and the degree of the restraining order will play a part, but that is "his" problem. You placed the order for a reason, and if you remove it, and all hell breaks loose, then you can only blame yourself. But, you know him more than we do.

Depends on what KIND of background check is being performed. Some are so thorough that even a parking ticket, or unsubstantiated accusation will appear. (Like the ones for law enforcement or sensitive government jobs).

i don't know but according to the order he shouldn't be calling u. this could be just a ploy to get it lifted and attack/stalk u.
