Just a weird cultural thing that started somewhere way back and that we keep on following, much to the chagrin of many women.

I've known a few male cyclists who have shaved their legs... and they're not gay. Since society expects men to have leg hair, I don't quite understand why any man would want to go to all the trouble of shaving if they don't HAVE to, considering the maintenance factor. Personally, I prefer to see some hair on a guy.
As to why men expect women to have little or no body hair, I wonder if men in general are attracted to women who shave their legs (etc.) because it makes them seem more childlike, thus submissive?

Well there's an open question. In some cultures women don't shave a thing. I think even at any age we are all prone to peer pressure. We see in magazines, TV and Movie stars what others consider sexy. I on the other hand feel if it was the in thing not to shave your legs (Being a women) I wouldn't go with the trend on that one.
I think it also has been passed down from generation to generation. My Mom shaved her legs, My Grandmother and so on.

Women shave their legs (and armpits too by the way) because they have been told to by makers of razor blades. It started around the 1900's when razor blade companies wanted to sell more blades and decided that men wouldn't shave anything else, so they turned to women. I expect my wife to shave her legs below the knee(if she's going to wear shorts) and nothing else. Women who shave their pubes are doing it, ultimately, because of the porn industry.

Some men do shave their legs and arms,like professional swimmers,dancers etc.I just don't like the look of my legs if they are all hairy lol I get them waxed once a week.Nice and smooth and no stubble

Shave your legs if you like - there isn't any rule about guys not shaving but personally - I couldn't be with a guy with smooth legs.

cause if men started doing that
they'd be gay - and women would not be turned on by them
we like rugged sexy men, as appose to a guy who shaves his legs

I don't know but I am glad they dont. I think that is a little ***** to me. I like a nice hairy leg on a man :)
