My fears are inconsistent. I love public speaking yet I am convinced I am shy. I will also start a conversation with an absolute staranger yet my mind tells me I am scared to do this. Can a fear be artificial? Is my mind telling me I am scared of this things for some reason?

What the hell is a staranger? Don't that sound like some type of space cop?

I discovered this a few years ago. The Matrix had it right. There is no Spoon!! I had this great revelation that my mind was tricking me and scaring me. I was so convinced that no one liked me that I couldn't see that they actually did like me. I had friends that I loved, but I was so scared they would leave me that I pushed them away. Thank God I had a few that didn't let me push them away. They kept telling me that they really were my friends and I finally got it. The bullets I saw weren't really there. Once you understand the Matrix, you won't have to dodge the bullets.

No; fear is an essential part of the psyche. It's part of the body's protection mechanism. All the same, you can allow fear to control you, if that is what you wish, but you won't be happy. Fear is fear, it's a basic element of the conscious condition that we, as humans, have a unique ability to manipulate.

To add: don't confuse yourself. Fear, like pain, is just a reminder that something is happening - right now!

Fear is entirely self created and as such is subjective.
