I understand.
My mood fluctuates. I get nervous at this time of year. Buying the "right" gifts for everyone, having enough money for it all is always an issue. Takes away from the true spirit of christmas doesnt it. Its a shame. Im guilty of it thats for sure.

Hey, Danny.
I understand that you are having difficulty getting into the "mood" of Christmas. I'd like to make a few comments on that.
1) It's ok to not feel in the "mood" for Christmas... If you were to be in the "mood" for Christmas every year, trust me, it would get old... not only that, but you would also feel the need to be in the "mood" for some other holiday every year... maybe Halloween?
2) There are many pressures at this time of year to give into capitalistic societal trends (buying presents). This can make it more difficult to get into the "mood" and that can contribute to the "scrooge" feeling you are discribing.
3) When things get stressful in life, it's more difficult to appreciate things through all the stressful things... Christmas is very hard to appreciate during a stressful time.
All in all, please don't feel bad... just because you aren't in the mood for Christmas, you're not a bad person.
Aloha,
David

Sometimes we can't get into the whole seasonal aspect of Christmas because of the pressures involved with shopping, seeing people that we normally don't, etc... I often feel this way until I actually get to Christmas Eve then I get excited. I think that what you are saying is normal, but don't worry yet.

I think a lot of the whole Christmas Spirit thing is over rated. The malls start pushing Christmas songs in their stores and Christmas decorations as early as 5 days after Halloween.I already start to feel pressure and start going through all my lists earlier and earlier every year. I feel pressure not much joy this time of year. .

"the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear."
Just kidding.
Seriously, the true spirit of christmas is not in getting, or shopping, or food, or even family. It's the spirit of giving. Throw yourself into some volunteer work and get outside yourself. It will make you feel a LOT better about yourself and your situation to see and then help the less fortunate.

No, I am in the christmas spirit but to help you get into the spirit, go and help those who are less fortunate than you. Most communties have an Angel Tree or a local toy drive; go and buy something for them and count your blessings that you have a nice place to live, food in you stomach, clothes on you back and a job to go to because the family that you may be helping may not have that! HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
