check the fuses or the cables,

Start with the simple checks, ie your fuses. If they are ok, then you will have to check that you have a 12 volt supply and also an earth at the motor and at the switch. Is the switch a seperate switch in the dash board above the heater controls? They can go faulty. Might sound crazy but if it is a seperate switch, take it out, give a good sound tap and this can sometimes clear the points in the inside of it. I used to work for Renault and this was a common occurence on the 5s. If you have checked for power at the switch and you can confirm that there is power there, you need to then check the motor , like wise. Which ever one doesnt have 12 volts is at fault.

It may be possible that (assuming its a hatch back) the hinges form part of the circuit and can become loose on the pins, if power/fuses etc are ok, get a small brass drift or even a chisel use the wrong end to tap the pins in they should be a tight fit.
