What is the procedure for getting approval for marketing a new herbal formulation (drug) in India?

Is is different from that of drugs of modern medicine?

I am not familiar with laws pertaining to medicines in India, but I do know in the USA herbal remedies are not controlled by the FDA and are not controlled in any way other than at the manufacturers discretion.

That said, there are substances that are illegal to put in herbal remedies and the laws pertaining to controlled and illegal substances would also encompass and apply to herbal remedies.
