Short answer is that they won't. It comes down to simple politics. The Democrats, starting with the new congress, will have enough votes to start impeachment proceedings against the President and VP. However, the Republicans maintain enough seats in the Senate to block the impeachment from being implemented. Since the Republicans currently control only the Presidency, they will not give it up. As such, impeachment hearings may happen, but the President and VP will not be removed from power via impeachment. The Republicans in the Senate will block any attempt to do so, and the Democrats, while having a majority, do not have the super-majority as required in the constitution to complete the impeachment process.

They probably won't be, and it's not that the Dems don't have the balls to do it. For one, they couldn't run the two trials concurrently, they'd have to do one then the other. If they started with the VP, it would be stupid, because who cares if the VP's gone but the president isn't? If they started with the president, that'd also be stupid because you get rid of W, then the president is Cheney, which is worse. So you've got a Catch-22 situation, and the best thing to do is to just not start it.

It does not keep any funds. Impeachment demands investigations, hearings and an ordeal. Plus, you will could discover crimes, first. not liking distant places coverage judgements isn't sufficient.
