It's called: On a Starry Night
Here's some of the lyrics.
It was on a starry night that the hills were bright
Earthings sleeping, sleeping calm and still
(Can't remember the rest of this verses)
For a boy was born
king of all the world
And all the angels sang for him
the bells of heaven rang for him
for a boy was born
king of all the world
I think there are two or three or four verses. Again I can't remember.
I've got three other questions: How well known is this carol? Would I able to buy it on CD? Could you list the CDs that it is on?

Actually I looking for a CD with many different carols on, possibly sung by "young people" in a choir. I've looked around for this song in the shops and no luck. That's why asking you, I need to find a CD with this song plus others either sung by a choir or various artists. (I listened to this Joy Webb and I don't like her voice), also keep in mind that I'm from the UK (my shops are limited to WH Smiths, Woolworths, Music Zone and Amazon UK)

It is a very popular carol in my church used by the teenage group.
It is Joy Web who I think wrote it but the Joystrings definitely sing it. You can listen to it on the link below.
It is on several CD's and if you Google "on a Starry Night" you will get several references.

Honestly, I have never heard that song before, and I am a Christmas song junkie. I listen to the all-Christmas radio station all day long, I work as a Santa's helper at the mall and a lot of choirs come and sing for us throughout the evening, and I actually was even in the church choir singing Christmas carols when I was a kid, so if I haven't heard of it, you can bet not many people have. It may be a challenge to find it on CD, but you could maybe locate sheet music for it at a music store that sells instruments, as they tend to have specialty Christmas songbooks, etc.

The official reason for christmas is of course celebrate the birth of jesus a christian Holiday. In america though it has become a holiday for all people regardless of if you are a christian or not. It has become a time where families get together and share gifts. A time where people tend to act nicer towards each other. Not all carols are christian based, Jingle bells, rudolph the red nose rain deer, Oh christmas tree are just a few examples. The holiday imho helps people relieve stress and gives them a chance to connect with their loved ones, to take this away would be a shame.

Songs written and composed by Joy Webb and recorded by the Joy Strings. Captain Joy Webb was the founder and leader of the group. She plays guitar and keyboard and is a good singer as well. Her ability as a songwriter shows a good sense of the melody. - This song is one of them and she was in the Salvation Army.
I can't find this on Amazon - it is very obscure.
