Go for it! I colored my hair a couple weeks after giving birth to my last child. It needed it after 9 months of not having it done, lol. Time to pamper yourself! Congrats on the new baby!

Well, you will hear different opinions and research on this. All I can tell you is my own experience.
I breastfed for 9 months. I also colored my hair while I was pregnant, and while breastfeeding.I used an at-home coloring kit each time and would do it about 6-8 weeks apart.
My son was born 8.10 ounces, and 22.5 inches long. He is extremely intelligent, alert, happy and healthy. He is far more advanced than other children his age as well.
So, it did not seem to have any ill effects on him in the short run. I can't know how it will affect him in the long run and how could I really prove anything? If he does have an issue, how would I really know it came from my having colored my hair-not sure?
Anyway, hope that helped. Good luck. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

Obviously, color your hair away from the baby. The fumes are toxic. But other than this, consult with a doctor, but I believe that it is safe to color your hair after giving birth. The toxins are not put into your blood stream, so it should be safe.
Just make sure to throughly clean the area after you color your hair to make sure all toxins and fumes have been eliminated before letting the baby into the area.
Congratulations on your newborn, and the best of luck!

My sister in law who owns a beauty shop does color and highlight peoples hair who are pregnant or just gave birth.. My doctor says its safe now with the new dyes. Years ago it was unsafe due to some of the chemicals but not anymore. So go for it!!!! COLOR AWAY!!!!!

As far as i know, you can. but you might want to double check with your doctor. The only reason you cant color your hair when pregnant is because your body produces different hormones and those go into your hair, so when you try to color it won't hold the color , it just fades.

When I was breastfeeding my doc told me that I needed to wait 6 months and then the only dye I could use had to be ammonia free, which means wash out stuff. The best thing to do is talk to your doc and consult with a professional salon about the other alternatives you can use.
