I want to clean the area under the keys of my laptop but I'm not sure how to do that. Is that possible to do without breaking the keys? If it's relevant I have a Dell Latitude X1. If you don't know but could point me in the right direction to find out that would be great too. Thanks!

Depends on the Keyboard,... alot of Keyboards are supposed to be better now but actually suck now,..

Anyways,.. since I can't run my fingers on your keyboard and type I can't tell you the end results your'll get.

I can suggest a strong vaccum (just if you end up cleaning without removeing keys),...

... or try butter knife, the metal nail file on finger nail clippers, and some bottle openers. If it's still too difficult or you don't have those you can try some paper clips,.. you may have to un bend them some but not all the way.

I have Dell 700 M. If I were to remove the Keyboard i would remove the part of plastic above the keyboard, (the part between LCD and keyboard. there is a notch on 700m. once you remove the plastic there should be 2 screw. remove those than you are home free.
while remove the plastic parts be careful. they are clip on type so get a few "negative" screw driver ( forgot the name for the moment) and pop it off at the edge. the screws holding the keyboard are 2 Philip type of screw.
